Financial $tudies of New York:
This walking tour of Wall Street and the Financial District highlights NY’s role as the economic capital of the US. From its days as a Dutch trading post to the modern moments of online trading, NY is the center of it all. Tour visits the Alexander Hamilton Customs House (now home to the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian) views of NY Stock Exchange and Federal Hall National Monument. Optional visits to The American Museum of Finance and New York Federal Reserve Gold Vaults.
Holiday Lights of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn (3 – 4 hours):
This mostly-Italian neighborhood in deep Brooklyn is known around the world for its elaborate and outrageous house lights and decorations. Include a lunch or dinner at a traditional “red sauce” Italian restaurant.
Jewish Brooklyn Tour (3-5 hours):
Visit Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods of Williamsburg, Crown Heights and Borough Park. Understand the differences between the deeply religious and old-world lifestyles of these three Jewish communities. Sample great kosher noshes and check out the Jewish Children’s Museum.
Military History of New York (3 – 5 hours):
Although this city’s only saw active combat during the American Revolution, you’d be surprised at how much military history NYC has. Choose between an “Army” tour aboard a coach, or a “Navy” tour aboard the New York Water Taxi. We’ll visit the Forts of New York Harbor including Castle Clinton, and important battle sites of the American Revolution in Brooklyn including the Fulton Ferry, The Old Stone House, The Prison Ship Martyr’s Monument and Green-Wood Cemetery’s Battle Hill. Optional attractions include the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum
Rockefeller Center, St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Diamond District:
Explore America’s very first mall – Rockefeller Center – its sublime Art Deco artwork and statuary, which is home to NBC studios where they film Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, 30 Rock and more. Outside is the famed ice skating rink and the dazzling Holiday Christmas tree. Visit the Neo-Gothic St. Patrick’s Cathedral. After spending some time in the majestic spires, walk a block to NY’s Diamond District on 47th street and learn about this gem of an industry.
Vice and Virtue: The Gilded Age in Gramercy Park, Madison Square and the Tenderloin:
At the turn of the 20th century, this neighborhood was the home of both the extraodinarily wealthy as well as the Tenderloin: a den of brothels, vice halls and bachelor’s clubs. See the famed Flatiron Building, the skyscrapers of Madison Square, Gramercy Park, visit the opulent National Arts Club and Teddy Roosevelt’s birthplace.
