Once again, NY’s First Family of Tour Guides, in association with NYC Balboa Club & NYC Swing Dancing Club present the Vintage Peacock Party on the Vintage NYC Subway Trains. Dancing, peacockery, parading about in vintage finery, all of it FREE to the general public, provided you purchase a $2.25 ride on the NYC Subway System with your handy-dandy Metrocard.
Please note – this year the MTA had to pull some serious strings to run the trains, what with the entire system being flooded post-Sandy. So we are kindly asking all Vintage Train Riders and Delighters to please leave your comestibles and teaware at home. We do not wish to spill any chamomile on the vintage rattan seats or leave scone crumbles in the nooks and crannies of our beloved vintage subway cars.
We will congregate on the platform at 2nd Avenue / Lower East Side at 3pm, enjoy an hours worth of dancing thanks to red hot jazz tunes by the CC Hot Club, Lynn McCune and the Hot Sardines and more, then board the final train departing at 4:01pm and returning some 90 minutes later.
After our Vintage Train Spectacular we will host an impromptu parade to the afterparty, at at Idle Hands Bar in the East Village, where there will be shot, drink and old-fashioned cocktail specials for all in costume.
$5 drafts ($2 off)
$5 wells ($3 off)
$5 shots of Jack, Buffalo Trace & Evan Williams.
