TOUCHDOWN!! The Sports History of NYC Tour

New York has a rich and colorful role in the development of both amateur and professional sports. We’ve been instrumental in all of these exciting engaging American past-times – horse racing, boxing, bicycle racing, track and field and, of course baseball. What’s more, all of these professional franchises called NYC home: the NY Rangers and, coming in 2015, the Islanders (hockey), The NY Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets (basketball), The Giants and Jets (football), and New York Yankees, baseball dynasty. A moment of silence please, for the lost and lamented New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers.
This tour will include visiting:
-
The fabled Yankee Stadium in The Bronx
-
The site of the former Polo Grounds and Rucker Playground in Harlem
-
The original site of Madison Square Garden: Madison Square Park (which heralds an intriguing claim as the “birthplace of baseball”) and MSG’s current home atop Pennsylvania Station at 33rd St.
-
Brooklyn’s brand new Barclays Center, home to the Brooklyn Nets
-
The Brooklyn Dodgers first home in Washington Park and their last home, the site of the late & great Ebbetts Field
We’ll include a New York Sports Trivia Contest with prizes: (sample: How did the Dodgers get their name? That’s an easy one. How about some harder ones? How did the Rangers get their name? What was the Jets original name? Why did the Mets chose their team colors?)
This 3-5 hour tour can be done via luxury SUV or Sprinter Van for smaller groups or luxury Mini-Coach or Motorcoach for larger groups.
